According to Paul Fu, creative director of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, who also worked on the original Black Flag, one of the team's main goals was to improve the responsiveness of Edward Kenway's controls in the remake. The developers reworked the landing animations, allowing the hero to recover faster after falls, and jumps became more responsive. After running on a wall, the character now receives a brief acceleration, making movement through the world smoother and more dynamic.
Additional movement capabilities appeared thanks to the improved parkour system. It uses an updated version of the Anvil Engine, already familiar from Assassin's Creed Shadows, and provides players with greater control over Edward's movement during parkour.
Significant changes also affected stealth. The remake will feature the observation mechanic from Assassin's Creed Shadows, working through "Eagle Vision." It will allow marking the location of enemies, mission objectives, and important clues. In addition, Edward can now crouch at any time, which significantly expands the options for stealthy playthroughs.
As Paul Fu explained, crouching affects the hero's visibility level: it becomes more difficult for enemies to detect the character at medium and long distances. This is especially useful when moving through bushes or on rooftops. The noise level is also reduced, which simplifies performing stealth kills.
