Over the past few days, users have left several thousand negative reviews for Slay the Spire 2. The reason was the discovery that activist Anita Sarkeesian is listed among the game's consultants.
According to Steam data, the rating of fresh reviews for Slay the Spire 2 has dropped to 61% positive. Unlike previous waves of review bombing, which were mainly associated with Chinese users, the current attack affected several regions at once — most negative reviews are written in English.
At the same time, many negative reviews published on May 7 were left by accounts that bought the game less than a day ago. Users suggest that some people purchased the project only to leave a negative review and immediately request a refund.
What exact influence Anita Sarkeesian had on the game's development is unknown — Mega Crit studio did not disclose the details of the collaboration.
Anita Sarkeesian gained widespread recognition in 2012 after launching a Kickstarter campaign to create a series of videos, "Tropes vs. Women in Video Games," dedicated to criticizing gaming clichés and the portrayal of women in the industry.
