Gamers aren't getting any younger, and some doubt they'll ever again experience a game they can anticipate so intensely.

More than 10 years have passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, and the new installment of the franchise has already gone through a series of delays. If nothing changes, GTA VI will finally be released this year.

Recently, one of the gamers awaiting the game sparked a discussion among older gamers. Various-Cut-1070 stated that for him personally, GTA VI is the last game he is truly looking forward to.

He is currently 34 years old, has three daughters, and by evening, he has no energy left. Games are almost all of his personal time, but he is "already quite burnt out" and no longer gets the same enjoyment from them.

More and more often, I find myself playing old games from my backlog – just for nostalgia. GTA VI will likely be the last new game I will anticipate so strongly. I foresee myself playing it for at least another ten years, while simultaneously finishing old classics from my backlog. I am sure that [GTA VI] will blow everything else out of the water – nothing will compare to it. Perhaps other Rockstar games, but their other releases will never reach the hype level of a new GTA. Yes, there are other great projects, but I don't see myself eagerly awaiting them or launching them on release day.

According to Various-Cut-1070, if Rockstar ever makes GTA VII, he will likely be "too old" by then to anticipate it as much as he does GTA VI now.

Some other older gamers, like hey_suburbia, said they still play and enjoy new releases – they suggested Various-Cut-1070 also try something new:

I'm 45, still play every day (two daughters). Try Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed series (Valhalla / Odyssey / Origins / Shadows), Expedition 33, Robocop, and Resident Evil 7–9 (all available on Game Pass). They've pretty much satisfied my craving for GTA. Or try playing It Takes Two with your five-year-old (or Breath of the Wild).

BlendedSquanching noted that it's important to make time for yourself:

I'm married, no kids, but I still need time for myself. Don't lose what makes you happy. You need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled for November 2026.
