Strauss Zelnick revealed when GTA VI was originally planned for release
The large-scale project fell behind schedule.
The development of Grand Theft Auto VI is not going according to plan. The release date has been changed several times, and if nothing changes again, the game will be released in November of this year.
Strauss Zelnick participated in David Senra's podcast. Management issues were mainly discussed, but the topic of GTA VI was also touched upon.
When asked about the release delay, the Take-Two boss said that production was delayed by approximately 18 months. However, he did not specify from which date the countdown began.
If he meant from the current moment, then the original release of GTA VI could have been planned for November 2024. If he meant 18 months from the new release date, then the original plan envisioned the game's release in May 2025.
Then David asked, "Is GTA V the best game of all time?" Zelnick replied:
I think so. However, it all depends on how you count. If you only count by revenue, I think so. If you consider series like Mario Kart, Call of Duty, and others, it's not so clear-cut. But from the perspective of intellectual property value, most consider [GTA] the most valuable entertainment franchise ever created. Although there can be arguments here.
