Gaming Messenger Becomes More Secure - Discord Launches New Protection System
Discord has begun implementing end-to-end encryption (E2EE), which protects users' messages and calls.
Now, the content of conversations on Discord is only accessible to their participants. Cryptographic keys are generated directly on devices, so no outsider, including Discord employees, can access audio and video streams.
The new security protocol covers not only private messages but also voice chats, group calls, server channels, and Go Live video broadcasts. The system is based on the DAVE protocol, developed in collaboration with cybersecurity experts.
Users don't need to enable anything manually — encryption works automatically. Only small indicators confirming the secure connection will appear in the interface.
