Lead Valheim Designer Announces Starpath - Space Survival Sim Without Dogfights or Fake Gravity
The developer wants to present a new take on space games.
Jonathan Smårs, the lead designer of Valheim, recently unveiled his new project called Starpath. It's a space survival game where players will explore a seamless universe alone or with friends.
The developer positions Starpath as "a new take on space games." In his game, the most important thing is the feeling of being in space and exploring it:
Have you ever dreamed of venturing into deep space with nothing but your own starship, equipped with everything you need for a lifetime among the stars? Wanted to know what it's like to be a weightless astronaut and the first person to set foot on a completely uncharted planet... or an entire galaxy? Can you find out if there's anyone else out there, or if there's just endless emptiness?
Jonathan clarified that Starpath has no space dogfights, lasers, fake gravity, or artificial trading — "just you, your ship, and the cold vacuum of space."
Players will be able to build their interstellar ship and chart a course through the galaxy, orbit planets and scan them, and launch zones for material collection.
