Amazon MGM Studios has released a new poster for "Masters of the Universe," recreating the "Skeletor Facts" internet meme. In the classic version, Skeletor delivers a ridiculous or unpleasant fact, then runs away saying, "Skeletor will return later with another unpleasant fact!" or simply disappears silently, leaving intrigue.
On the promotional material, Jared Leto as Skeletor lies on cinema seats and states: "Me and my pre-sale tickets." Thus, the poster repeats the first part of the meme, and fans are now waiting for the second part to unleash modern meme generators.
The poster looks curious also because in recent weeks, discussions around Leto have not only been about the film. Reports have emerged online that the actor is barely participating in the project's promotion. Versions vary: according to one, Leto himself is dissatisfied with the film and therefore refuses to promote it; according to another, Amazon MGM decided to distance itself from the actor due to his reputation as a "black mark" for box office performance and accusations of inappropriate behavior.
The world premiere of "Masters of the Universe" is scheduled for June 5. In some regions, the release will start earlier due to local peculiarities and time zone differences.
