Creators of the canceled multiplayer for The Last of Us 2 are working on a project called Terminal War
The project is compared to the Factions mode from the original The Last of Us.
During the Insider Gaming Showcase, a multiplayer survival shooter called Terminal War was presented, which is very similar to the Factions mode from The Last of Us. The similarity is easy to explain: the game is being developed by Albatross Interactive, a studio founded by former Naughty Dog employees who worked on the canceled multiplayer for The Last of Us 2.
The developers are focusing on intense gunfights, thoughtful inventory management, and tactical survival, where every mistake can cost a life.
One of the main features of the game will be brutal close-quarters combat. In Terminal War, timing and positioning are very important: melee combat is accompanied by spectacular finishers, and victory often depends on who is the first to exploit an opponent's mistake.
The authors also emphasize the freedom to choose a playstyle. Users will be able to act stealthily, setting up ambushes and coordinating attacks with the team, or go head-on, relying on an aggressive assault. According to the developers, the battlefield adapts to different approaches, and success depends not only on shooting but also on competent tactics.
Serious attention is paid to resource scarcity. Ammunition and supplies in the game are limited, so it will not be possible to spend them thoughtlessly. Every item found has value, and proper resource allocation becomes key to team survival.
Another important feature will be minimalist equipment sets. Players will have to carefully select weapons and equipment, as each piece of equipment affects the combat style and the consequences of decisions made.
The game does not yet have a release date, but it has a page on Steam.
