The new "Lord of the Rings" will unite franchise veterans and new actors.

Leo Woodall has commented for the first time on his involvement in "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." In an interview with People, the actor admitted that working on the new Middle-earth project was a childhood dream come true for him.

"It means everything to me. It's a childhood dream. I watched it [Peter Jackson's trilogy] as a kid and saw it a million times, so to be a part of it now is incredible."

Woodall did not reveal any details about the project. The actor merely brushed it off, saying he couldn't "tease anything" yet.

Woodall's official casting announcement took place at CinemaCon, where the studio revealed the first casting details. The actor will play Halvard, a new character from among the Dunedain rangers, who was not in J.R.R. Tolkien's books.

Jamie Dornan ("The Tourist," "Fifty Shades of Grey") also joined the team, playing the Wanderer, i.e., a young Aragorn. In addition, Kate Winslet joined the cast: she was cast as a character named Marigold.

In addition to new faces, the old guard will return to iconic roles: Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Lee Pace as Thranduil, and, of course, Andy Serkis. The latter, like his character, is two personalities: the film's director and the performer of Gollum's role.

The worldwide premiere of "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is scheduled for December 17, 2027.
