Some Mad Head Limited employees were too heavily inspired by a character's abilities from Kuro Games' project.

The developers of the mobile game Tower of Saviors found themselves at the center of a major scandal. Players accused the studio Mad Head Limited of copying the animations of the character Hiyuki from the popular anime gacha Wuthering Waves by Kuro Games.

A wave of outrage arose after the release of a promotional video featuring a new character – Genghis Khan. Users noticed that the camera movements, scene staging, and visual effects almost completely replicated Hiyuki's superpower animation. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that in one of the frames, Hiyuki's image, not Genghis Khan's, was clearly visible in a mirrored surface.

Mad Head Limited quickly responded to the accusations. The studio removed the controversial promotional video from all platforms and issued an official apology. In a statement, the company admitted that the material indeed showed unacceptable similarities to another project and did not meet internal quality standards.

Mad Head has already launched an internal investigation. To regain audience trust, the studio plans to tighten content moderation and introduce strict rules for materials created using AI assistants. Henceforth, developers will be directly prohibited from relying on third-party intellectual property when creating advertisements.

It is noteworthy that this is the second case of plagiarism accusations in the mobile market this week: previously, HoYoverse was involved in a similar conflict due to a mini-game in Zenless Zone Zero.
