Baldur's Gate II to Get a Remake - Media
After the success of Baldur's Gate 3, some players wanted to see an updated classic.
It seems that the owner of Baldur's Gate is preparing to bring back at least one old installment of the franchise. Sources for PC Gamer journalists said that Wizards of the Coast is preparing a remake of Baldur's Gate II.
These sources noted that a remake of the second part is definitely in the works, but they are unsure about the first Baldur's Gate. Kevin Martens, one of the developers of the original version, was allegedly brought in to work on the updated BG II. He worked on Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Neverwinter Nights.
PC Gamer's sources have not yet provided additional information about the Baldur's Gate II remake.
Currently, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is available on PC via Steam and consoles – an improved version of the classic, running on a refined Infinity Engine. This version includes the original "Shadows of Amn" expansion and brand new content, including four new party members:
