"Return of the King": AMD Revives the Legendary Ryzen 7 5800X3D for the AM4 Platform's Tenth Anniversary
AMD decided to maintain AM4's relevance amidst memory shortages.
Amidst ongoing memory shortages, AMD decided to remind everyone of the phenomenal longevity of the AM4 socket and introduced a special anniversary re-release of its main gaming hit from the past – the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition.
This chip was once the first model with vertical 3D V-Cache and literally revolutionized the concept of gaming performance. Now, the company is bringing back the "king" to celebrate the platform's ten-year anniversary and offer owners of older systems a powerful final upgrade option.
The technical specifications are identical to the original model: 8 cores, 16 threads, a base clock of 3.4 GHz, and a maximum boost of up to 4.5 GHz with a TDP of 105 W. The Zen 3 die carries a total of 96 MB of L3 cache.
Since this uses first-generation 3D V-Cache technology, manual overclocking is still locked. However, the manufacturer will include a pleasant bonus in the box with the anniversary edition – a premium Carbice Ice Pad carbon thermal pad, designed for efficient heat dissipation over a long period.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition will go on international sale on June 25 at a recommended price of $349.
