After the announcement of God of War: Laufey, Santa Monica Studio reacted to criticism from some fans. The developers emphasized that the new game does not mean the end of Kratos' story.
The reveal of God of War: Laufey sparked active discussions within the community. Many players were interested in the new story, but some of the audience were dissatisfied that Faye, and not Kratos, became the main character.
Several hours after the presentation, the studio published an official statement and tried to reassure fans of the series.
Kratos is God of War. We still have many stories to tell with him. For now, we want to send fans on a journey through the underworld of the gods with Faye and hope you join us on this adventure!
The message indicates that Santa Monica is not going to abandon the main character of the franchise. God of War: Laufey will be a new spin-off of the universe, but will not replace the Spartan's main story.
