Filming for "Sonic 4 The Movie" concluded in mid-May, and Kristen Bell has already joined post-production. The actress, who voices Amy Rose, posted a photo from the recording studio on social media and captioned it: "In the booth for Sonic. Amy Rose comes to life!"
The official plot of the sequel is being kept secret. According to insider rumors and industry observers, the fourth film will draw on Sonic CD and touch upon the theme of time travel. It is reported that Amy Rose may arrive from the future to help Sonic confront Metal Sonic.
Jeff Fowler, who directed all previous installments of the franchise, is once again in the director's chair. Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Idris Elba (Knuckles), Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Tails), and Keanu Reeves (Shadow) will return to their voice roles. Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Lee Majdoub will also reappear in the live-action cast. Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Matt Berry, and Richard Ayoade recently joined the project; their roles have not yet been disclosed.
"Sonic 4 The Movie" is scheduled to premiere on March 19, 2027.
