Targaryen War on Smartphone Screens: Game of Thrones: Dragonfire Released
The new mobile strategy aims to rekindle interest in the third season of "House of the Dragon."
Warner Bros. Games, in collaboration with HBO, announced the global release of the free-to-play mobile strategy game Game of Thrones: Dragonfire. The game is now available for download on iOS and Android devices.
The release coincides with the premiere of the third season of the series "House of the Dragon," which starts on June 21, 2026. Players can link their HBO Max accounts and receive rewards for watching new episodes.
The plot and style of Dragonfire revolve around the era of the Dance of the Dragons – a large-scale civil war between Targaryen factions. Users will control riders and armies, fighting for influence on the map of Westeros. At the start of the game, 28 dragons are available, including both canonical characters from George R. R. Martin's books and new creatures developed specifically for the project.
J.B. Perrette, Head of Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized that the studio has high hopes for the new release. Dragonfire is expected to build on the success of the previous mobile franchise release – Game of Thrones: Legends, which generated over $23.6 million by its first anniversary.
Before the official launch, the pre-registration campaign attracted about 10 million users, and within the first hours after release, the number of downloads on Google Play exceeded 1 million.
