Bandai Namco is betting on the development of Gundam and is preparing one of the most ambitious games in the franchise.

Bandai Namco has officially unveiled Gundam Rogue Orbit — a new action game based on the iconic mech franchise Gundam. The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic trailer showcasing Gundam battles against giant robots and mech-bugs.

The story campaign will tell of humanity's struggle for survival in space against an unknown alien threat. Players will take on the role of a pilot of the Gundam Helix mobile suit and join a diverse team of companions.

The developers emphasize that Gundam Rogue Orbit is being created in a new standalone universe, not directly connected to other works of the franchise. This approach should make the project an accessible entry point for newcomers and at the same time offer a fresh perspective on the series for long-time fans.

Recall that in October 2025, Bandai Namco announced the restructuring of its anime divisions and the consolidation of brand rights to simplify franchise management and promotion in Western markets.

In May 2026, the company launched the global Road to 50 program in honor of Gundam's 50th anniversary, which will be in 2029. Apparently, Gundam Rogue Orbit will be one of the key projects of this initiative, along with a remaster of the original 1979 series and a live-action Hollywood film from Legendary Pictures.

Gundam Rogue Orbit is scheduled for release in 2027. The project will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The trailer is available at the following link: YouTube.
