It seems the new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, has listened to the community's requests.

Today marks the major Xbox Game Showcase, where Microsoft will present its upcoming lineup of games from internal studios, including a detailed showcase of the shooter Gears of War: E-Day. However, it seems PlayStation 5 owners should not expect good news.

Insider Jeff Grubb, in a fresh Giant Bomb podcast published just seven hours ago, reported:

"Gears of War: E-Day was planned for release on PS5. But that's no longer in the plans. The decision was made literally just now."

Adding intrigue to the situation, hours before the announcement, observant users noticed a Walmart pre-order page for Gears of War: E-Day with a $100 price tag, which listed PlayStation 5 alongside Xbox Series X/S as platforms. After screenshots spread on social media, the retailer completely removed the page.

The possible return to classic console exclusivity is linked to personnel changes in the company and the actions of a competitor. This is the first major Xbox show under the leadership of the new head, Asha Sharma, who replaced Phil Spencer.

Sharma has already launched the Xbox Player Voice initiative to gather player feedback. In it, the demand to bring back exclusives topped the poll with over 22,000 votes. Furthermore, against the backdrop of Sony's policy of maintaining single-player exclusives, Microsoft may take retaliatory measures to strengthen its position.

The information is not yet officially confirmed. The Xbox Game Showcase 2026 presentation, which starts on July 7 at 8:00 PM Moscow time, may clarify the situation.
