The fourth season of the animated series "The Legend of Vox Machina," based on the D&D campaign Critical Role, recently premiered on Prime Video. On the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the new episodes debuted with a phenomenal result, receiving a 100% approval rating from critics after 81 reviews and 95% from general audiences.

Thus, the series maintains a perfect press rating for the fourth consecutive season. For comparison, the first season received 100% positive reviews from critics and 93% from viewers. The second received 100% and 97% respectively, and the third — 100% and 91%.

The events of the new season unfold a year after the war with the Chromatic Conclave. During this time, the team disbanded, and its members tried to find their place in peaceful life, dedicate time to loved ones, and cope with the consequences of past events. This approach allowed for a deeper exploration of the characters individually.

At the same time, the team's reunion is called one of the strongest moments of the first episodes. According to critics, the chemistry between the characters and their emotional connection feel even more vivid after a long separation.

Meanwhile, critics call this season the darkest and most mature in the project's history. The atmosphere is literally permeated with a sense of impending threat, which will fully manifest itself in the final fifth season.

The entire golden cast of Critical Role, including Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien, and Matthew Mercer, traditionally returned to voice their characters, and the main surprise of the season was the appearance of the legendary Andy Serkis.

The fourth season premiered on Prime Video on June 3. In total, the continuation includes 12 episodes, which are released in blocks of three episodes per week. The grand finale of the season is scheduled for June 24, 2026.
