HBO has revealed the runtime of the premiere episode of "House of the Dragon" season three. According to the broadcast schedule, the first episode will be 72 minutes long.
This is a record runtime for the show's opening episodes. The first season premiere lasted 65 minutes, and the second season's was 58 minutes. Overall, the new episode will only be shorter than the second season finale, which ran for 84 minutes, and the sixth episode of the second season, which was 77 minutes long.
As showrunner Ryan Condal promised, the third chapter of Westeros will begin without delay and immediately plunge viewers into the legendary Battle of the Gullet – one of the bloodiest naval battles in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" universe. Earlier, Condal compared the epicness of the battle to the Battle of Helm's Deep from "The Lord of the Rings" and called the episode "the craziest episode in TV history."
The premiere of the third season of "House of the Dragon" will take place on June 21, 2026.
