Gears of War Creator Comments on E-Day Xbox Exclusivity

Gears of War: E-Day will officially not be released on PS5. Microsoft is changing its publishing strategy, and the new head of Xbox is betting on exclusive content for its platforms.

The company confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will remain an Xbox console exclusive. The game will only be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Cliff Bleszinski, one of the creators of the Gears of War series, commented on the situation:

While I liked Microsoft's previous 'bigger is better' strategy, I think it hurt brand perception among a loyal, dedicated fanbase. (...) E-Day looks fantastic, and the reaction to the game is great, so it looks like the Xbox ship is really getting back on track.

Xbox head Asha Sharma has already decided to lower the cost of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. In recent interviews, she also stated that the console platform needs exclusive games. The executive confirmed that following Gears of War: E-Day, Clockwork Revolution will also not be released on PS5.
