In June of this year, modders Team MTl5 returned to Crysis Remastered. They decided to release an update for their “remaster.” Version 1.0.1 includes audio enhancements, refined graphics, and more.
Team MTl5 reported that the quality of ambient sounds has been improved and published a video with an example:
“Under the hood,” the ambient volume class was rewritten in Lua to handle areas differently compared to the original game. By increasing the size of each area by the value of the outer radius, we create a smooth fade-in, instead of using the “near” zone behavior, which works incorrectly in the remaster […] Building interiors have also been improved. We don't have advanced “directional sound,” but now external sound fades depending on the distance to doors and windows – a feature that was not present in the original Crysis.
Additionally, the modders refined the enemies' artificial intelligence – they can engage in “blind” and panic firing if they suspect the player is hiding nearby in the bushes. Opponents will interact better with stationary weapons and can retreat from a turret if the player “gets too close from the flank or attacks from behind.”
The modders stated that they improved particle effects and created a special script that identifies objects from the original game that were removed in the console version and not returned in the remaster:
As a result, hundreds of small items were restored: books, bottles, screwdrivers, newspapers, brooms, trash cans, and even movable elements like car doors. This significantly improves detail and physical interaction. It is important to note that the process is not perfect – duplicate or overlapping objects may occur. This will be fixed in future updates.
Changes were also made to the gameplay mechanics related to grenades. The modders decided to remove the “bugged quick grenade throw.” Previously, it only worked with fragmentation grenades and confused players – now the “G” key switches grenade mode and allows selecting their type.
The “Crysis Remastered Improvement Project” modification by Team MTl5 is distributed for free via ModDB.
