Black Myth: Wukong Sets New Sales Record - Analysts
Black Myth: Wukong by Game Science studio has achieved significant commercial success, with global sales exceeding 30 million copies.
There have been no official updates from the developers, but the data was confirmed by a report from the Xinhua Agency Research Institute.
The game achieved this result faster than many major industry hits. For example, Elden Ring took about three years to reach similar figures, while the story of the Monkey King managed it faster.
The new data also refutes assumptions that the game's success was solely due to the Chinese market. More than half of the sales came from overseas regions – over 15 million copies were sold outside of China.
This significantly differs from typical Chinese single-player projects, where the share of external markets rarely exceeds 30% of revenue. The success is attributed to high-quality localization, simultaneous global release, and a well-thought-out pricing policy for different regions.
Now, players' attention is focused on Phantom Blade Zero, which analysts also consider a potential international hit.
