Capcom appears to be considering a change to the release date of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. According to information that surfaced from Canadian retailer PNP Games, the game's release could happen as early as September 4, instead of the previously announced window at the end of the month.
As other major stores have not yet updated the release date, this could be either prematurely published information or a simple error. Nevertheless, such a scenario seems quite plausible. Capcom has previously moved its projects' dates to an earlier time – for example, the sci-fi action game Pragmata was released a week earlier than planned.
If the information is confirmed, Onimusha: Way of the Sword will avoid direct competition with Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall, which are set to release on September 24-25. However, the new release slot cannot be called free either: on September 3, the action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker from Rebel Wolves studio will hit the market.
Perhaps Capcom believes that competing with a new intellectual property will be easier than vying for audience attention simultaneously with the well-known Silent Hill and Control franchises.
