Dylan Faden Was Always Meant to Be the Main Character of the Control Universe
Remedy shared details about Control Resonant.
Remedy Entertainment shared new details about the future of the Control franchise. In an interview with Insider Gaming, the game's art director, Elmeri Raitanen, stated that the decision to make Dylan Faden the main character of Control Resonant was part of the plan from the very beginning of development.
According to Raitanen, players have already become acquainted with one side of the "Faden family coin" through Jesse Faden's story in the original Control, and now the developers want to show the other side of that story. He noted that the transition from Jesse to Dylan was conceived from the outset and was never considered a spontaneous decision.
Furthermore, Remedy is already thinking about the further development of the universe. Raitanen emphasized that the team hopes for the success of the new game, which will allow them to tell even more stories in the world of Control. Although specific plans for a sequel have not yet been revealed, the developers clearly view Resonant as an important step for expanding the franchise.
However, the path to release has not been easy. The cooperative shooter FBC: Firebreak showed weak commercial results, leading to personnel changes in the company's management. Remedy CEO Tero Virtala left his post, and his place was taken by former Electronic Arts top manager Jean-Charles Godechon. However, there are currently no indications that the new management intends to change the studio's creative direction.
Despite the difficulties encountered, Remedy is preparing a large-scale marketing campaign to promote Control Resonant. The game is scheduled for release on September 24 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
