CDPR doubts it has "redeemed" the problematic release of Cyberpunk 2077, but hopes to win back some fans with The Witcher 4
Many gamers were looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, but the release version turned out to be of poor quality — buyers were met with a significant number of bugs and shortcomings. In the following years, CD Projekt RED released many patches with fixes, improvements, and new content, as well as the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Nevertheless, a "residue" remained, and some still haven't forgiven the company and are now very skeptical about its new projects.
In a recent interview with Edge Knowledge, CD Projekt RED co-CEO Michał Nowakowski admitted that in some cases, player trust was irrevocably lost, but he hopes to win back at least some of the audience.
I'm not 100% sure we've completed the redemption arc yet. I'm convinced we've lost the trust of some people forever — and that's fair. However, I still hope we can fix things — if not with The Witcher 4, then with a future project that comes after it.
Currently, CD Projekt RED is developing not only the new The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, but also, in collaboration with Fool's Theory studio, the Songs of the Past expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — its release is scheduled for next year.
