Ubisoft Confirms Death of One of Its Co-Founders in Plane Crash

Ubisoft co-founder and CEO of Guillemot Corporation, Claude Guillemot, died in a plane crash in France. This was first reported by the French publication Ouest-France, and later confirmed by other media outlets.

The tragedy occurred on June 19 in the commune of La Baule in the Brittany region. A small twin-engine Cessna 421 crashed shortly after takeoff. There were two people on board, both died. Claude Guillemot was 69 years old.

Claude Guillemot was the brother of current Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Together with his brothers Christian, Gérard, Michel, and Yves, he was at the company's origins. In 1986, the Guillemot family founded Ubisoft as part of Guillemot Corporation, which initially focused on distributing computer and technology equipment.
