Bethesda to improve DOOM graphics on PS5 Pro without performance loss

DOOM: The Dark Ages will receive an update for PS5 Pro on July 7. Along with the Revelations expansion, a patch with an improved version of PSSR technology will be released. Bethesda stated that they want to provide “the cleanest image we can deliver on this platform” on the Sony console.

The technology uses machine learning and analyzes motion, scene depth, lighting, and other data to enhance image clarity. Improvements will be noticeable in small details such as snow, chains, spikes, sparks, destroyed objects, and distant enemies. These elements should maintain sharpness in motion without flickering or blurring.

The difference will be especially noticeable in large battles. Enemies and environments will become sharper, textures will retain more detail, and visual effects will not overload the image as much. At the same time, the idTech8 engine will continue to use dynamic resolution and high performance.
