Steam Machine sold out in Japan in three hours. All versions disappeared from sale

Steam Machine sales successfully launched in Japan. All four versions of Valve's gaming PC sold out within three hours of sales starting, even though the device costs over $1000.

Sales began on June 23 through Komodo Station — Valve's official partner, which distributes the company's devices in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Unlike Europe and North America, where Steam Machine is sold via a pre-order system, in Japan, the device went on open sale. Within three hours, all configurations were marked as "sold out."

Valve did not disclose the volume of the initial batch, so it is unknown whether this is due to high demand or a small number of devices.
