Reseller withdrew money from pension account and announced purchase of 500 "physical" copies of GTA VI, but they contain no disc, only a download code
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI recently started. Players can purchase not only a digital version but also a "physical" one. However, there's a catch: buyers will receive a box with a code to download the new Rockstar Games title, not a disc.
As it turns out, some people missed this subtle detail of the "physical" edition of the game when pre-ordering. A post from an enterprising user who planned to profit from reselling GTA VI "discs" went viral in the gaming community.
AryanBundles stated:
I took a risk in reselling. I withdrew money from my [pension account] and pre-ordered 500 copies of GTA VI. This is the most anticipated game of all time, and when it sells out, I'll be ready to corner the market. By Christmas, this will yield 2-3x profit.
However, gamers doubt that AryanBundles truly miscalculated so significantly with his investment and paid for 500 boxes with download codes.
AryanBundles did not publish a transaction completion window, and the screenshot he provided shows him allegedly taking "500 copies" of the game in one order.
According to incoming reports, a "disc" release of Grand Theft Auto VI may never happen at all.
