Josh Sawyer Called the Fallout Series One of the Best Game Adaptations and Responded to Critics of "Non-Canonical" Dinky
Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer praised Amazon's Fallout series, calling it one of the best video game adaptations he has ever seen. In an interview with The 41st Precinct, the developer admitted that he would have implemented some plot decisions differently, but he does not consider this a full-fledged criticism.
"I think it's a fantastic adaptation. Honestly. I know the bar for TV shows or movies based on games isn't always high, but this is definitely one of the best things I've seen. Any writer, looking at someone else's work, would think: 'Well, I probably would have taken the plot in a different direction' or 'I would have developed this character differently.' But that's not real criticism."

Sawyer separately commented on fans' complaints about the differences between the series and Fallout: New Vegas. As an example, he cited the scene with the dinosaur Dinky in Novac, which was turned in the opposite direction in the series.
"I understand why they did it – otherwise, the scene with Lucy just wouldn't have worked. Personally, it didn't bother me at all. Maybe now they'll call me a Fallout traitor or something! But I think it's a great representation of iconic things from the game. I'm very interested to see how everything develops further. I think this is probably one of the best video game adaptations I've seen. And I'm looking forward to the next season."
According to Bethesda head Todd Howard, preparations for filming the third season have already been completed, and production will start this month in Los Angeles. Manny Jacinto ("The Acolyte"), Thomasin McKenzie ("Jojo Rabbit"), Emily Mortimer ("The Newsroom"), and Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") have joined the cast of the sequel.
