Story Kitchen continues to expand the list of game franchises that will receive adaptations.

Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the Persona franchise. According to Variety, the project is in the early stages of production. Christopher Monfette, who previously worked on the series "12 Monkeys," "Star Trek: Picard," and "9-1-1," will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer.

Production is handled by 21 Laps and Story Kitchen. The former is known for "Stranger Things," while the latter specializes in video game adaptations. Toru Nakahara, executive producer, will oversee the project on behalf of SEGA.

Other details are not yet available. It is unknown which game in the series will form the basis of the plot, who will be in the cast, and what the estimated release dates are.

For Story Kitchen, this is far from the first video game adaptation: the company has "Sonic the Hedgehog" and the animated series "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft" under its belt, and its upcoming releases include live-action series based on Tomb Raider starring Sophie Turner and Life is Strange. In total, the production company currently has about two dozen projects in development based on well-known gaming IPs: from Sifu and Split Fiction to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Vampire Survivors, and now – Persona.
