One of DC's most successful modern comics will hit the screen.

At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, DC Studios officially announced the launch of a new animated series, "Absolute Batman." The project adapts the popular comic book series of the same name, which debuted in 2024 and offers a completely different take on the Dark Knight's story. In this universe, Bruce Wayne grew up in poverty and relies more on brute force, while his adversaries have become even more terrifying and monstrous.

The original comic's writer, Scott Snyder, will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series. This approach has already been compared to Amazon's "Invincible," where the creator of the source material, Robert Kirkman, also personally oversaw the adaptation.

Warner Bros. Animation President Sam Register shared the first details of the project:

"We are incredibly excited about this project. We are currently in the very early stages of development with Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta. This will be a fully 3D CG show... It will offer a completely different tone and an entirely new take on Batman."

The statement that the series will be a fully 3D CG project has already sparked debate among fans. The creators have not yet revealed the reasons for this decision, but the artist of the original comic, Nick Dragotta, has been brought in to develop the series, which may help preserve the visual style of the source material.

The premiere date for "Absolute Batman" has not yet been announced.
