HBO launched casting for the role of Ginny Weasley for the second season of "Harry Potter"
HBO and Warner Bros. have announced the start of open casting for the role of Ginny Weasley for the second season of the "Harry Potter" series. The casting agency is looking for a girl aged 10 to 12, permanently residing in the UK.
This will be the first major recasting for the show. In the first season, Ginny Weasley was played by Gracie Cochran, but in May, her family announced that the girl would not be able to return to the role in the second season due to "unforeseen circumstances." This information was later officially confirmed by HBO.
Filming for the second season will begin this autumn, so the creators still have several months to find a new actress for the role. Meanwhile, the first season has already been fully filmed and is currently in post-production. The premiere of the first season of "Harry Potter," adapting "Philosopher's Stone," is scheduled for December 25, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
