The first teaser trailer for the second season of the anime "Witch Hat Atelier" premiered at Anime Expo 2026.
The production of the continuation is again handled by BUG FILMS studio, which worked on the first season, but the creators have not yet announced the premiere date. This is not surprising: previously, director Ayumu Watanabe called the manga adaptation "a reckless undertaking" due to the incredible detail of the original source.
Coco's voice actress, Rena Motomura, also said that artists prepared more than 20,000 drawings just for the fifth episode. If the team intends to maintain the same level of quality, work on the continuation could take a long time.
The anime is based on the manga of the same name by Kamome Shirahama, which has been published in Morning Two magazine since 2016. The series currently has 16 volumes, and its total circulation has exceeded 7 million copies.
The story tells of a girl named Coco, who has always dreamed of becoming a witch, despite the fact that in her world, mages are born, not made. Everything changes after she meets the mysterious wizard Qifrey, through whom she learns that the widely accepted truth about the nature of magic is just a clever deception. Thus, Coco finds herself drawn into a wonderful and dangerous world of sorcerers, where she must master the magical craft from scratch.
