"The Mandalorian and Grogu" Digital Release Set for July 21
Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the digital release date for “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” The film will be available for purchase and rental on Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and other international platforms starting July 21. The physical edition will go on sale on August 25, while the release date for the film on Disney+ has not yet been announced.
Home versions will feature dynamic aspect ratios: a standard 2.39:1 format and an IMAX version with a 1.78:1 ratio will be offered. The digital edition and the 4K UHD version will also include a Dolby Atmos soundtrack.
The bonus materials will include four documentary featurettes. The creators will discuss the making of puppets, miniatures, visual effects, and sound design, the construction of sets, and the work on the city of Shakari. The film will also feature audio commentary from director Jon Favreau.
“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is the first full-length film in the franchise in seven years and continues the story after the events of the third season of “The Mandalorian” series. The film's worldwide box office exceeded $340 million, which is the lowest result among films of the new “Star Wars” era, starting with “The Force Awakens.” The next film in the franchise will be “Star Wars: Starfighter,” scheduled for release in 2027.
