Valve Reassures Steam Deck LCD Owners: Batteries Won't Disappear

Valve denied rumors about the discontinuation of battery supplies for the Steam Deck LCD, stating that the issue was logistical.

Owners of the first Steam Deck can rest assured. Following reports of a possible discontinuation of official battery supplies for the LCD version, Valve and iFixit confirmed that spare parts will remain available.

The cause for concern was the statement by iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens, who said that companies had been informed of a gradual cessation of screen and battery supplies for the first version of the Steam Deck. This caused alarm among users, as 2022 devices will inevitably require battery replacement over time.

Valve denied the rumors, explaining that the problem was logistical. A large batch of original batteries is already on its way to iFixit warehouses.

The company noted that long-term production of spare parts is a challenging task, as batteries age even during storage.

iFixit promised that if Valve ever completely stops producing original components for the Steam Deck LCD, the company will establish cooperation with independent manufacturers to provide users with high-quality compatible batteries.
