"Black Mirror" Star to Play Arthur Weasley in "Harry Potter" Series

Rafe Spall will continue a family tradition started by his father.

Preparations for the filming of the second season of the “Harry Potter” series are in full swing. According to the plot of “The Chamber of Secrets,” Harry will visit the Weasley family home for the first time and meet Arthur Weasley, a role that went to Rafe Spall.

Spall is known for his roles in “Life of Pi,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” and the “Black Mirror” Christmas episode “White Christmas.” Interestingly, the actor's father, Timothy Spall, also appeared in the “Harry Potter” universe: he played Peter Pettigrew in the film series. Thus, Rafe will, in a sense, continue a family tradition.

The first season of “Harry Potter,” based on the novel “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,” will be released on HBO and HBO Max on December 25, 2026.
