HBO Confirms Second Season of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" to Premiere in First Half of 2027

Production difficulties did not affect the creators' plans.

HBO head Casey Bloys confirmed in an interview with Deadline that the premiere of the second season of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is still scheduled for the first half of 2027.

The new season will be based on George Martin's novella “The Sworn Sword”. Dunk and Egg will enter the service of Ser Eustace Osgrey and become embroiled in a conflict with neighboring lands amidst a drought.

Earlier, showrunner Ira Parker said that during the production of the second season, the film crew faced serious difficulties. A drought-stricken area in the Canary Islands was chosen for filming to recreate the Reach, where the events of “The Sworn Sword” unfold. However, the region was hit by an anomalous once-in-a-century storm — the set was flooded several times, so work had to be suspended.

Despite the difficulties encountered, HBO's plans have not changed, although the company is not yet ready to announce the exact premiere date for the second season.
