Margot Robbie to Play Mystique in Marvel Cinematic Universe and Get Solo Special - Insider
Previously, the studio allegedly considered the actress for the role of Emma Frost.
According to insider MainMiddleMan, Marvel Studios has offered Margot Robbie the role of Mystique in one of the upcoming MCU projects. This is not about a reboot of "X-Men."
"My source reported more. Margot Robbie is not in talks for the role of Emma Frost. She was offered the role of Mystique, and not for an X-Men movie."
MainMiddleMan later clarified that Marvel plans to release individual stories about key mutants in the Marvel Television Special Presentation format — similar to "The Punisher: The Last Kill," which was released in May 2026. According to him, Mystique will be one of the first to receive such a special.
Previously, Margot Robbie was named one of the main contenders for the role of Emma Frost in the new "X-Men." According to insiders, Sabrina Carpenter and Sydney Sweeney were also among the candidates. However, Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed any of these names, so it is currently unknown whether Robbie's possible appointment as Mystique means that the role of Emma Frost has already gone to another actress.
In the near future, Rebecca Romijn will play Mystique again. The actress will return to this role in the film "Avengers: Doctor Doom," which will be released on December 18, 2026. After "Avengers: Secret Wars," scheduled for premiere on December 17, 2027, Marvel Studios will move to a new stage of cinematic universe development, within which new versions of mutants should receive special attention.
