Game of Thrones Strategy Game Not Coming in 2026 - Game of Thrones: War for Westeros Postponed to Next Year
However, they will start introducing gamers to their project in 2026.
Recently, PlaySide studio reminded about the project Game of Thrones: War for Westeros. The new title is positioned as a classic real-time strategy game.
The RTS developers stated that “development is progressing successfully,” and Game of Thrones: War for Westeros will be released next year. They needed additional time to further develop the project and ensure a high level of quality.
However, they will start promoting the project this year. The strategy game's developers published a blog showcasing several fragments of battles and heroes, including Jon Snow and Tywin Lannister.
The developers said they are focusing on responsiveness, unit behavior, and physical impact. Players will command not individual fighters, but full squads that dynamically react to orders.
The RTS developers emphasized that they strive to make the battlefield as “tangible” as possible: a significant amount of development time is spent on refining the response and the feeling of “feedback” when units interact.
For example, cavalry has a sufficiently large physical mass, which will allow it to break through open lines of archers and disperse enemy squads.
You can add Game of Thrones: War for Westeros to your Steam wishlist via this link. The game does not yet have a specific release date, but a release window has been indicated – early 2027.
