Starfield hasn't been abandoned - Bethesda reveals player count and confirms continued support for the space RPG

Bethesda Game Studios still has plans for Starfield.

After the April release of the story expansion Terran Armada for Starfield, the developers were in no hurry to delight fans of the space RPG with news about further plans for the project. Some speculated that Bethesda Game Studios decided to quietly discontinue support for the project.

However, the developers recently addressed the community and stated that Starfield "remains an important part" of the studio's future. The project's audience has exceeded 17 million players, and they have collectively spent a billion hours in the space RPG.

This does not mean that "17 million copies" were sold, as the game is also available in the Game Pass catalog, and some of the audience are subscription users.

According to the developers, about 40% use the Creations modification platform to experiment with Starfield. Bethesda Game Studios said it will continue to support content creators and "give players new ways to truly make Starfield their own."

The latest story expansion to date, Terran Armada for Starfield, received "mostly negative" reviews on Steam. Along with it, a major update was introduced that improved gameplay mechanics.
