Valve and Ubisoft supported the revival of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - an improved version of the game will be released on Steam

Fans also continue to develop an RTX remaster of the game.

The original Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is remembered to this day, and some players would like to see a remaster or a full-fledged remake. Modders decided to create an updated version and managed to enlist the support of the copyright holders.

This year, developer King David announced that after long negotiations with Ubisoft and Valve, he can finally announce that a "Community Edition" for Dark Messiah is in development and is being created with their support.

This version of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic will run on a newer version of the Source engine (it will be Source 1 to "preserve the original feel") and will be released on Steam. Steam Workshop support (mods) may be available:

We will start with single-player, and also update multiplayer as part of the same release. We will also integrate all our mods, and add some new and classic ones that you will recognize.

The modders clarified that they are not remaking the game from scratch, but simply "porting it, relying on deep experience with the Advanced SDK and knowledge gained during a visit to Ubisoft."

Earlier this year, the first public version of the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic RTX remaster was presented – the project was named "Dark Messiah RTX."

The source codes for "DarkMessiah-RTX-Mod-Files" have already been published in open access on GitHub in the "KingDavidW" repository.
