A Secret That Could Destroy a City: The First Trailer for "Blade Runner 2099" with Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer Has Been Released
The sequel to "Blade Runner 2049" premieres on November 25 on Prime Video.
At Comic-Con in San Diego, Prime Video unveiled the first trailer for the sci-fi miniseries "Blade Runner 2099" and announced its premiere date.
The events unfold 50 years after Denis Villeneuve's film. Los Angeles survived the replicant uprising and was rebuilt without human involvement. Artificial beings became the dominant force, and humanity found itself in the position of second-class citizens.
The main character will be Cora, played by Hunter Schafer. Tired of hiding, she adopts a final identity and becomes a blade runner. She must team up with Olwen, played by Michelle Yeoh, a replicant with only a few days left to live. Together, they must track down a fugitive who holds a secret capable of destroying the fragile order of the rebuilt city.
Silka Luisa, who worked on "Halo," served as showrunner and executive producer for the miniseries. The first two episodes were directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, director of "Shogun." Ridley Scott and "Blade Runner 2049" screenwriter Michael Green participated in the project's creation as executive producers.
The cast also includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Kaitlin Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Jonny Harris, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi. Alcon Entertainment, which owns the rights to the "Blade Runner" franchise, is responsible for the production.
The series will have eight episodes, all of which will be available simultaneously on November 25, 2026.
