The disappointing financial results of the first film may put an end to the sequel.

Directors of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have completed work on the sequel's script, but Paramount and Hasbro may not greenlight the film for financial reasons. Goldstein spoke about this in an interview with ScreenRant:

“We actually wrote a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons. That’s what we were hired to do. I don’t know if it’s going to see the light of day for a variety of financial reasons. These movies are expensive to make, but we would love to do it. We love this cast and we think we wrote a story that fans would enjoy.”

"Honor Among Thieves" was released in 2023 and received a warm reception: the film's rating on Rotten Tomatoes is 91% from critics and 92% from viewers. However, the commercial results were not high enough to launch a full-fledged franchise. The film grossed about $205.5 million worldwide with a production budget of $150 million, not including marketing costs.
