It is worth noting that back in 2024, Naoki Yoshida spoke about numerous fan requests for a Final Fantasy IX remake.

Final Fantasy XIV producer and director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) explained why creating a full-fledged Final Fantasy VI remake is an extremely difficult task. According to him, such a project could surpass even the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy in scale.

During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Berlin, Yoshida appeared alongside Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi. During the Q&A session, Hamaguchi admitted that Final Fantasy VI was the game that inspired him to pursue a career in the gaming industry.

However, the developer noted that every time after such admissions, publications appear in the media claiming that he will be the one to work on the remake of the sixth installment of the series. Hamaguchi once again emphasized that he has no such plans.

After this, Naoki Yoshida took the floor, explaining that fans' desire to see a modern version of Final Fantasy VI is understandable, but the implementation of such a project would require colossal resources.

According to Yoshida, Final Fantasy VI is an extremely large-scale game, and this applies not only to it but also to Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX. He believes that if Square Enix ever decides on such a remake, one game will not be enough.

If we were to remake these games, we would probably have to release it in four or even five parts.

Hamaguchi also said that one of the main factors in the success of Final Fantasy VII Remake was the ability to maintain an almost unchanged development team for over ten years. According to him, assembling a team that would work on several large projects in a row and maintain motivation until the very end was a real miracle.

He emphasized that changing the team after each released part would significantly complicate development, and therefore promising a Final Fantasy VI remake now would be irresponsible.

It is worth noting that back in 2024, Naoki Yoshida spoke about numerous fan requests for a Final Fantasy IX remake. At that time, he also stated that he could not imagine how such a large-scale game could be contained in a single release. However, among the entire classic lineup of the series, he named Final Fantasy III as the part whose remake he would be most interested in seeing.
