Enthusiasts Made Minecraft "Playable" Directly on YouTube

Enthusiasts from Atlas Arcade and Animated Subtitles used YouTube's 360° video format to create a video simulating the final battle with the Ender Dragon in Minecraft.

It seems that playing Minecraft directly on YouTube is possible – almost. Enthusiasts have created an unusual interactive video that simulates full gameplay and quickly became popular online.

The project authors are Atlas Arcade and Animated Subtitles. They used YouTube's 360° panoramic video mode to create the illusion of controlling a character during the final battle with the Ender Dragon. On PC, you can "move" with WASD keys, and on smartphones, you can rotate the camera with gestures, which creates the feeling of a real game.

In reality, this is not a full-fledged Minecraft game. The player cannot mine resources, build, or craft items – the interactivity is limited only to the battle with the Ender Dragon.

The entire gameplay is pre-recorded. The video only creates the impression that it reacts to user actions. Even if you do nothing, events will still unfold according to a pre-prepared script.
