Final Fantasy XVII already in development? Yoshi-P's words spark rumors
At Fan Fest, Yoshida praised Hamaguchi, quoting fans saying "I want this person to make Final Fantasy 17," which sparked rumors about his possible involvement in the development of the new installment.
During the Naoki's Room panel at Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest, Naoki Yoshida, known as Yoshi-P, unexpectedly fueled rumors about Final Fantasy XVII by praising Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi.
Yoshida said that he had heard fans' opinions many times, after which he quoted their words:
I want this person to make Final Fantasy 17.
He then added that this is probably the biggest compliment a game developer can hear from fans.
Hamaguchi was clearly embarrassed and asked, "Should I answer?" However, Yoshida gestured that it was not necessary.
The episode sparked a wave of discussion. Some fans decided that Yoshi-P might have hinted at Hamaguchi's involvement in the development of Final Fantasy XVII. However, there is no official confirmation of this. Hamaguchi is currently focused on the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
