1968 Hippie Mannequin from Comics to Appear in "Superman" Sequel - Insider

James Gunn continues to unearth rare characters from the DC Comics archives.

Director and co-head of DC Studios James Gunn, known for his love of obscure comic book characters, is preparing another unusual casting choice for the film "Superman: Legacy". According to insider Daniel Richtman, Brother Power, the Geek, will appear in the movie.

The character debuted in 1968 thanks to Joe Simon. In the story, an ordinary store mannequin comes to life after being struck by lightning and becomes a leader of the hippie counterculture, inspiring people to fight for their ideals. His solo series ended after only two issues, but Neil Gaiman later reinterpreted the hero as an elemental connected to human creations – mannequins, dolls, and statues.

The film's plot will focus on the forced alliance between Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) in the face of a threat from Brainiac (Lars Eidinger). The film will also see the return of Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre).

Also joining the cast are Xolo Maridueña as Blue Beetle and Adria Arjona, who is rumored to have been cast as Maxima. The latter information has not yet been officially confirmed.

"Superman: Legacy" is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2027.
