The heroines are absent from the announced cast, but the filmmakers have not ignored their stories.

Joe and Anthony Russo hinted during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the film "Avengers: Doctor Doom" will touch upon the fates of Jean Grey, Storm, and Rogue from Fox's X-Men cinematic universe.

When asked if audiences would learn what happened to the characters, Anthony Russo declined to reveal details. However, the director confirmed that the creators considered the characters' pasts when working on the plot:

"We won't answer directly. The X-Men story is very important to us. All these characters are beloved by audiences, and we've thought a lot about their past. So it will play a very significant role in the film."

Russo's words do not confirm the direct appearance of Jean, Storm, and Rogue. The film may be limited to mentioning the heroines or explaining the reasons for their absence. Earlier, Halle Berry repeatedly denied participation in "Doctor Doom," and Famke Janssen claimed that Marvel had not offered her to return as Jean Grey.

However, X-Men comic book creator Chris Claremont stated the opposite. In January 2026, on the Power of X-Men podcast, he claimed that Marvel was bringing back the original cast, including Janssen:

"The great thing is they're bringing back the original cast, including Famke."

Claremont is not directly involved in the film's creation, so his words cannot be considered official confirmation. However, he previously prematurely announced Chris Evans' return, which Marvel Studios later confirmed.

Joe Russo also hinted that the announced cast of the film is not yet complete and audiences may be in for surprises after the credits:

"There are always new surprises. So, as usual, don't leave immediately after the finale."

Several actors from Fox films will return in "Avengers: Doctor Doom": Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Kelsey Grammer (Beast). Channing Tatum will join them as Gambit.

The film's premiere is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
