Half-Life, Portal, and L4D writer talks about working with Gabe Newell and explains his departure from Valve

Recently, Chet Faliszek, who wrote the script for the Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, and Portal franchises, released a new video. He worked at Valve for 12 years and then left the company, and now he has shared his memories of working there and explained the reason for his departure.

For example, he shared a story about interacting with the company's boss:

People always ask, "What's Gabe like?" He's a person I work with... Yes, he was my boss, but he could just invite me for coffee to talk about different things. We would go to lunch or dinner to discuss things like, "Why doesn't Left 4 Dead have a story?"

According to Faliszek, for him, Gabe Newell is an "ordinary guy" he used to talk to, and now "[Gabe] has turned into some strange legend":

I don't know the Gabe you think exists. I only know the guy whose child sat on my lap when we went to the movies together.

Chet Faliszek explains his departure from Valve by saying that he "wanted to change something" (in his career). The writer also shared in the video that he really enjoyed releasing games – the process brought him pleasure.
